Fletching Flags

As a weapon and a way-finding tool, a symbol of death, divination, direction, and virtue, the arrow has become a diluted social signifier that exists separate from its origins.

Balanced by the elements of geometry, four-fold symmetry, and bold colors, these pieces appropriate the stabilizing element of an arrow  - the tail fin, or fletching - presenting them as imagined flags. Devoid of their sharp heads, these arrows serve as horizontal and vertical stabilizers, crossed in a way that neutralizes their interpretation as both signs of friendship and symbols of fascism.
