Serial Images

These serial images, painted in grid formation, were inspired by Isotype – a modernist pictoral data system – as well as by textile design and other grid-based patterns. I am interested in the way an image can be altered, diluted, and degraded through repetition and/or duplication.

These images represent focal points within a personal narrative, yet they are largely taken from the public domain of the Internet, and are intended to address broader themes of behavioral pattern, repetition (in time, language, marketing), control, compartmentalization, typology, Modernism and its dilution, and our constant interaction with icons within gridded digital interfaces.
